Parliaments and Peacebuilding

I am currently working on a new project about the role of parliaments in peacebuilding. What role do parliaments play in peacebuilding? How do parliaments operate in relation to peacebuilding, such as the implementation of peace settlements, reconciliation and long-term governance in the aftermath of armed conflict? How can parliaments be supported as part of peacebuilding?

While parliaments clearly have a part to play in peacebuilding, there has been little research on their exact role. This new project, which is developed in collaboration with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, focuses on systamtically comparing across a number of relevant cases, how parliaments operate in relation to peacebuilding and especially their strengths and ensuing challenges.
